Arsenal legend Ian Wright praises David Luiz after sensational FA Cup display

Arsenal are into the FA Cup final following an impressive 2-0 win over Manchester City at Wembley. A well-taken brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang secured Mikel Arteta’s side a place in the final where they will face either Chelsea or Manchester United, who face off tomorrow.

But whilst the Gabon striker will receive plenty of praise, the Arsenal defence was perhaps the real star of the show.

The Brazilian was heavily criticised for his performance the last time these two teams faced off when City ran away with a 3-0 win and he was sent off.

But this was like watching a different player and it did not go unnoticed.

Former Arsenal star Ian Wright took to Twitter to congratulate the entire Arsenal back-line. However, the Highbury legend had special praise for the Brazilian, who put a few doubters in their place with this immense performance.

Considering the long list of sensational Arsenal centre-backs over the years, such as Tony Adams, Sol Campbell, and Martin Keown, that is massive praise but it was not unfounded after a sublime display by the often criticised Brazilian star.

It also represents a huge turnaround from a month ago when Wright, along with former Arsenal colleague Lee Dixon that it might be time for David Luiz to be moved on, despite his obvious influence in the Arsenal dressing room.

Hopefully, this is the start of a long run of form for the player, who would have won over some of his biggest doubters with last night’s masterclass.
