Arsenal legend David Seaman says he was absolutely ‘devastated’ when Tottenham signed £30m player
A number of Tottenham Hotspur’s signings over the years have come under scrutiny.
Spurs’ lack of depth in their squad has been exposed this season after many of their key players suffered injuries. Johan Lange had to do a better job there.
To add to that, some of their senior stars are not performing at the level required, which is why they are 15th in the Premier League table.
One new signing, however, has played incredibly well this season, and Arsenal legend David Seaman has had his say on him.
David Seaman says he was ‘devastated’ when Tottenham signed Archie Gray
Tottenham signed Archie Gray from Leeds United last summer in a deal worth about £30 million ().
Ange Postecoglou brought the teenager in and had planned to give him sporadic opportunities, but injuries have forced him to use Gray every game.
The youngster has had to play as a centre-back for large parts of the season even though he had never played in that position in a competitive game before.
Gray has exceeded expectations in that position and has performed brilliantly. He has even been better than Radu Dragusin, who is naturally a centre-half.
Arsenal legend Seaman has heaped praise on Gray and has admitted that he was upset when Spurs signed the teenager last summer.
He said on : “I was devastated when you got him from Leeds because that’s my team.
“To see him doing what he’s doing, he’s going to be a special player. For a guy that age to be able to do that under that pressure as well, that shows you a lot about that player.”

Gray’s position could change again vs Hoffenheim
Gray has to be one of the most versatile players in the Premier League.
The 18-year-old has played 13 games as a centre-half, six as a right-back, three at left-back and two in the middle of the park since joining Spurs.
Postecoglou deployed Gray as a centre-half against Everton in Tottenham’s last game, but the youngster is set to play as a left-back against Hoffenheim.
When asked if it will be between Gray and Ben Davies at left-back, Postecoglou said in his press conference: “It will be one of those two, that’s all we’ve got.
“More likely we’ll play Archie at left-back and Ben at centre-back.”
