Arsenal have taken a look at ‘superstar’ striker who has just rejected a move to Nottingham Forest

Arsenal are just a matter of hours away from seeing the transfer window shut for the remainder of the year.

Mikel Arteta will be moderately pleased with the business which has been done by Arsenal this summer with two new faces now through the doors.

Riccardo Calafiori was the first signing made this summer after a lengthy transfer saga between the Gunners and Bologna for the centre-back’s signature.

And the Gunners experienced another transfer debacle when it came to the signing of Mikel Merino which Arsenal announced earlier this week.

With a defender and a midfielder on board, it may not be a matter of reacting to any opportunities in the market as Arsenal also eye a potential new forward.

Arsenal have looked at ‘superstar’ forward who’s still available

A new striker is something which is on the radar for Arsenal who have already monitored a move for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

However, that is not the only potential arrival now in north London after Arsenal eye a potential move for Joan Garcia late in the window.

But there is still one striker who Arsenal have taken a look at this summer who is still on the search for his next possible club.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Arsenal have taken a look at the Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez this summer.

“They’ve looked at Santiago Gimenez, who we know that Nottingham Forest are struggling to get over the line but, at the time of recording, are still working on,” he told .

Since the recording took place, Gimenez has rejected the opportunity to join Forest this summer with a deal now off.

With the striker’s move to Forest off, the Mexican is now in limbo ahead of the final hours of the market as Gimenez has shown an interest in making a move away from the Dutch side.

Santiago Gimenez wants to move to the Premier League

The ‘superstar’ Gimenez was said to be close to joining Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer before Spurs signed Dominic Solanke.

Having netted 26 goals across all competitions last season (23 goals in the league), Gimenez has made a bright start to the new campaign.

Gimenez has already scored four goals in his four appearances this term, but he will still pose a risk to any interested Premier League side.

However, given Gabriel Jesus’ injury issue at Arsenal, perhaps this is a last-minute deal which could be worth the risk for Arteta just to add some potential firepower up top.
