Arsenal have sneakily made a £56m bid for ‘unbelievable’ player, Andrea Berta had a secret meeting

Arsenal are yet to make their first summer signing, but there are a number of plates being spun at the moment at the Emirates.

Martin Zubimendi looks set to sign for Arsenal, while Kepa Arrizabalaga could be headed to Arsenal too.

However, the main focus at the Emirates for many is signing a new striker.

Arsenal will sign a new striker this summer, but the Gunners are yet to truly hit the accelerator on any particular deal, until now that is.

According to Duncan Castles, speaking on The Transfers Podcast, Arsenal have now made their move on one of their key striker targets, claiming that the Gunners made a verbal offer worth a grand total of £56m for Viktor Gyokeres last week, which, in turn, was rejected.

Arsenal made verbal Viktor Gyokeres offer

Arsenal made an offer to Sporting for Viktor Gyokeres last week according to Castles.

The journalist says this deal was worth a grand total of £56m, but Sporting turned down the bid.

Apparently, Andrea Berta met with Sporting and Gyokeres last week in Majorca, but, unfortunately, a deal was not struck.

Mark Robins has called Gyokeres an ‘unbelievable’ striker in the past, via , and this may not be the last we’ve heard of this deal.

“Gyokeres, there has now been an offer from Arsenal to Sporting for the player. That happened last week in a meeting between Sporting, Andrea Berta and Gyokeres’ agent in Majorca, I was told it was a verbal offer worth €55m with €10m in bonus which was rejected,” Castles said.

Andrea Berta’s past striker signings

Andrea Berta is leading the charge as Arsenal look to sign a new number nine, and he’s exactly the man you want leading this situation.

Indeed, if there’s any Sporting Director in world football who knows how to pick out a top striker it’s Berta.

During his time at Atletico Madrid, Berta signed a number of top strikers.

The Arsenal Sporting Director has a remarkable record when it comes to picking out and delivering quality number nines, and that is his biggest job at Arsenal this summer.

Benjamin Sesko is also an Arsenal target, but it would appear that a move for Gyokeres is at the forefront of Berta’s mind right now.
