Arsenal have serious ‘concerns’ that £67m striker will not be able to stay fit if they sign him
Arsenal have a lot to think about before signing a new striker this summer.
The Gunners have needed a prolific goalscorer for over three years, but for one reason or another, the decision makers at the club have failed to sign one.
That is finally expected to change this summer, and Andrea Berta has been brought in to sign a top-class centre-forward.
Arsenal have been linked with several names in recent weeks and months, but one of their long-term targets is unlikely to be an option in this window.
Arsenal have concerns over signing Dusan Vlahovic
Dusan Vlahovic has been linked with Arsenal for a long time.
The Serbia international was Mikel Arteta’s top target to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back in 2022, and the Gunners tried really hard to get him.
However, Vlahovic rejected Arsenal at the time and joined Juventus instead in a £67 million deal ().
The striker has since been linked to Arsenal on several occasions, and the Gunners have thought about him as well in recent windows.
However, the reason why they haven’t made a move is because of his injury history, says Ben Jacobs.
The journalist said on talkSPORT: “There’s been concerns from a number of Premier League clubs about Vlahovic – Arsenal, in particular, and Chelsea as well, who never advanced anything about Vlahovic specifically because of a chronic groin injury.
“Clubs want to be aware of whether or not they feel, should he come to the Premier League and its pace and physicality, whether he is going to be able to stay fit.”
Dusan Vlahovic’s injury history since snubbing Arsenal and joining Juventus
Vlahovic has had a lot of issues since he joined Juventus in January 2022.
The Serbian has not lived up to his massive price tag in Turin, and one of the reasons behind his struggles has been his injuries.
Number of injuries | Days missed | Games missed | |
Dusan Vlahovic since joining Juventus | 12 | 225 | 29 |
12 different injuries in three-and-a-half years is not a good record, and it explains why clubs like Arsenal have stayed away.
The last thing Arsenal need in the upcoming campaign is more injuries after struggling with multiple issues to key players throughout the 2024/25 campaign.
As good as Vlahovic is, he is not the answer for Arsenal this summer.
