Arsenal are running out of time in this transfer window.

Fans of the Emirates Stadium club woke up on Monday with a lot of optimism after their side battered Manchester City in the Premier League.

The hope was to see Mikel Arteta sign a new striker on deadline day, but the chances of that happening are almost zero now.

But, Arsenal did hold talks with five talented strikers over a move before the transfer deadline.

Arsenal’s need for a new striker has been evident for a long time now.

The Gunners should’ve brought in a prolific goalscorer when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club in January 2022. But, for one reason or another, that has been ignored.

That came back to haunt them after Bukayo Saka was sidelined with a serious hamstring injury and Gabriel Jesus ruptured his ACL.

Arsenal have worked on signing a new striker in this window, and Spanish journalist Eduardo Burgos has revealed that negotiations took place with five strikers.

Those players are Benjamin Sesko, Igor Jesus, Ollie Watkins, Mathys Tel and also Matheus Cunha, who signed a new contract with Wolves with a £62.5 million release clause.

But, Arsenal are set to accept defeat in their pursuit of all of them because ‘they don’t want to overpay�in this window.

A deal for a new striker in the final hours of the window looks extremely unlikely now.

Arsenal should do what they can in the remainder of the season with the players they have got, but there will be no excuses if they don’t sign a new striker in the summer.

The two big names on Arsenal’s list are Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko.

A number of clubs will be interested in signing both players, but Arsenal simply have to land one of them after missing out on both in two consecutive windows.
