Arsenal have a ‘very talented’ player in their ranks, says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Arsenal newcomer Martin Odegaard has been praised by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who believes the Gunners on-loan midfielder is a “very talented young player”.

The North Londoners have been boosted by the arrival of Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid, the 22-year-old joining the Gunners on Wednesday.

His arrival comes just as Arsenal prepare to host Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium in one of the most highly anticipated fixtures of the English football calendar.

The Gunners have enjoyed a resurgence in recent weeks, and now sit ninth in the table, seven points adrift of the top four.

Mikel Arteta has very much left the door open on Odegaard potentially starting against the Red Devils, telling reporters: “Let’s see how he goes in training and we will see, don’t worry.”

Solskjaer naturally knows all about his fellow Norwegian and believes the Gunners have made a good signing, but he hopes the youngster doesn’t hit the ground running this weekend.

“Of course, Martin is a very talented young player and we know from the national team that he can cause any team problems,” Solskjaer is quoted by the as saying.

“I just hope he’s not finding his form on Saturday. I wish him all the best, he’s a good boy, good attitude, right character, so I’m sure they’ve made a good signing there.”

When reports of Odegaard looking for a loan move first emerged, plenty of Arsenal fans called for the club to join the race for his signature.

Much to their delight, things moved really quickly and before you know it, he’s now a Gunners player.

Odegaard is a huge signing for the Gunners, who now have two exciting No. 10s in the ranks alongside Emile Smith Rowe.

He hasn’t had much game time this season so it remains to be seen whether he’ll need a little time to get up to scratch.

However, Arteta hasn’t ruled him out of the match, so you wonder whether he could potentially come on later on in the game as a replacement for the Hale End prodigy.
