Arsenal fans want club to take advantage of Newcastle takeover news

PCP Capital Partners, the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund and the Reuben Brothers withdrew their £300million offer to buy Newcastle United earlier this week – and Arsenal fans want their club to take advantage.

For numerous months and the majority of lockdown, supporters, management and players have been left in limbo after current owner Mike Ashley accepted a £300million bid from Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed bid.

But since then, it has been a catalogue of obstacles for the takeover team to hurdle. Piracy issues in Saudi Arabia that have left Richard Keys and BeIN Sports seething, a World Trade Organisation report and others issues included.

It has meant the Premier League approval process has taken longer than expected and now the impending takoever has been withdrawn. It leaves Newcastle with Ashley in control, but seemingly still trying to sell the club.

With a summer transfer window now open since Monday, it remains to be seen if Ashley is willing to spend money. Meanwhile, clubs are certainly casting their eye over Newcastle’s prized asset, Allan Saint-Maximin.

23-year-old Saint-Maximin is a target for Arsenal after a sparkling first campaign in English football. The Frenchman may have been hoping for some ambition from potential new owners.

Instead, he is likely to be playing for a side that are expected to bring in some cheap signings under Ashley and look to avoid relegation once again. Arsenal fans, though, want their club to take advantage of the takeover news.

They want their club to swoop in and lure Saint-Maximin away from Newcastle, after hearing a takeover was off.
