Arsenal were possibly handed a boost in their quest to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar earlier this week. claim the Ligue 1 outfit are preparing to let their star man leave for £25 million.
That represents a big boost, although it’s claimed in the report that Liverpool are also closely monitoring the situation. Nonetheless, it does provide optimism for the Gunners.
The 22-year-old was heavily linked with Arsenal last summer. Eventually, he stuck with Lyon and Mikel Arteta bolstered his midfield ranks with the addition of Thomas Partey.
Aouar has scored seven times and registered four assists for Lyon during 2020/21. He has played largely as a conventional central midfielder but can also operate as a No.10.

Arsenal will enter the transfer market once more during the summer. With a place in the Europa League unlikely to be on the table, attracting players might prove tricky.
With that in mind, signing Aouar for £25 million should alert Arsenal. If they can move quickly they might be able to steal a march on their rivals and secure the sought-after signing.
Following this week’s reports, supporters were quick to react on Twitter. It seems unanimous that the Arsenal fan base would welcome him at the Emirates Stadium.
If we sign Aouar , Camavinga and Bissouma, Ill honestly cry

He would allow Partey to play lone 6 and help fluidity between midfield and attack, definite reason Arteta wanted him in the summer

With us not participating in any competitive league next season, this one even fingers crossed won't happen, unless Aouar himself decides i need a rest. Houssem doesn't need Arsenal, its Arsenal that needs him.

If we sign Aouar and bissouma also one right back I think that is ok

I pray so too

I’d rather Buendia but I’m not opposed to this

Aouar would be nice, if we can get him (he'd essentially be the Ceballos replacement) and Bissouma (Torreira replacement) then we would have improved that midfield massively. Adding a more mature and confident Willock and maybe Guendouzi (would sell him IMO) wouldn't be too bad
