Arsenal fans react to Joe Willock’s display against Portsmouth on Monday night

Arsenal earned a comfortable 2-0 win over League One side Portsmouth to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup thanks to goals from Sokratis and Eddie Nketiah – and supporters have reacted to Joe Willock’s display.

Reiss Nelson was in excellent form on the right flank as he ended the night with two assists, while Pablo Mari made his senior Arsenal debut at the back since joining the club from Flamengo on a loan-to-buy deal in January.

Despite a very equal game during the first half, Arsenal took the lead through Sokratis. An excellent low cross was made to look even better by Sokratis’ finish, who volleyed the ball home into the bottom corner.

Immediately after the half-time break, Nketiah continued his stunning form for The Gunners by making it two. Another low cross from Nelson was met by Nketiah, who bundled the ball into the net at the second time of asking.

Willock, 20, was eventually substituted in the 87th minute but had little impact on the match throughout his time on the pitch. Willock had scored four senior goals this season by October, one being a long-range effort against Liverpool.

But his form and confidence has seemingly dropped off and Arsenal supporters reckon the England Under-21 international needs to go out on loan in order to get some minutes under his belt. One fan says a loan in the Championship could benefit.
