Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Ainsley Maitland-Niles’s display
A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Ainsley Maitland-Niles’s performance during the Gunners’ excellent 2-0 win over Manchester United.
Mikel Arteta has his first win as Arsenal boss. And it came in some style as the home side produced a superb performance at the Emirates. In truth, the win had been coming with the Gunners producing some outstanding football during their defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

It is always interesting to see which players are transformed under a new boss. Often, a name that few expected comes through and proves to be a revelation.
And it appears that Maitland-Niles may be one of those players for Arteta.

The 22-year-old has come in for a lot of criticism this term. He has struggled at right-back and had probably not been helped by the fans’ excitement for Hector Bellerin’s return earlier in the campaign.
But plenty are now suggesting that Maitland-Niles has turned a corner since Arteta arrived. Some have insisted that Bellerin does not come back into the team on current form.
that no Arsenal player completed more passes or tackles than Maitland-Niles on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Nicolas Pepe was the only Gunner to go on more successful dribbles.
The youngster now needs to prove that he can sustain this level of performance. But the signs, for him and Arsenal, look incredibly positive.
Here is what some of the supporters made of his performance…
Maitland Niles should keep his place in this team even when Bellerin is fully fit, make it your position!

Been very critical of Maitland Niles in the past, so i should also give him praise when he deserves it. He was outstanding against Chelsea and even more today. Bellerin has his work cut out for him

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has excelled recently, I’m honestly amazed by how good he’s been.
Didn’t think I’d be saying this, but Bellerin is going to have a hard time getting back in the side.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles needs his contract renewed, and extended. Incredible talent.

Maitland Niles looks like a completely new player as an inverted fullback, suits him perfectly. Bellerin is going to struggle to regain his place in the team.
