Arsenal fans react as Oscar claims duo want him at Emirates
Shanghai SIPG playmaker Oscar has claimed that Arsenal players Willian and David Luiz have spoken to him in a bid to convince the midfielder to leave China and join the Gunners – and Arsenal fans have responded on Twitter.
Oscar, 29, spent more than four years at Chelsea between the summer of 2012 and January 2017 – in which he surpassed 200 appearances for the west London outfit in all competitions. He played alongside both Luiz and Willian for the Blues.
The Gunners duo are also teammates of Oscar’s at national team level, and are close to the SIPG number eight. The two-time Premier League winner has been in dazzling form this season, scoring five and creating nine goals in just 10 outings.
Despite having a contract until 2024 with the club he joined for a whopping £60million (), Oscar has told Fox Sports Brasil – – that Willian and Luiz have attempted to convince him to return to London, with Arsenal.

“But for me it’s a little more difficult. I have a contract with Shanghai, it’s a little more difficult to leave. “The most important thing is to be happy, regardless of the place. So I hope they are happy there.”
Arsenal are likely to be on the lookout for a replacement for Mesut Ozil, who looks likely to leave next summer – and could even depart before this summer’s deadline of October 5. However, it remains to be seen if Arsenal could afford him.
As aforementioned, the amount of time left on his contract means he would require a hefty transfer fee while his wages in China are enormous. Gunners fans, though, would love to see Oscar join the growing list of Brazilians at Arsenal.
