Arsenal fans react as Mesut Ozil completes Emirates Stadium exit
Mesut Ozil has finally ended his association with Arsenal after his move to Fenerbahce was finally confirmed.
The man who won 92 caps for Germany and helped them to World Cup glory in 2014 spent almost seven years at the Emirates Stadium.
Ozil has fallen out of the Arsenal picture under Mikel Arteta. He wasn’t selected in the 25-man squads for either the Premier League or Europa League this season.
The 32-year-old played 254 times for the Gunners following a move from Real Madrid.
Despite his occasional brilliance, Ozil has proved a bit of an enigma during his time at Arsenal.
Consistency has proved an issue, although his early form was pretty good.
Ozil leaves the Gunners with 44 goals and 77 assists during his time at the club and he will now hope to revive his career.
Crucially Arsenal will be delighted to see Ozil’s staggering £350,000-a-week wage disappear from their wage bill.
His departure has been a long time coming and now supporters have been reacting on Twitter.
There are plenty who wish him well following his departure, with some feeling he has been underused during his time at the club.
