Arsenal fans react as Gunners linked with Shanghai SIPG manager Vitor Pereira

Arsenal are reportedly interested in luring Vitor Pereira from Shanghai SIPG to The Emirates after the Portuguese manager rejected a move to Everton – and Gunners fans have reacted on Twitter to the somewhat surprising reports.

that Arsenal are keen to bring the 51-year-old to north London. It is believed that Pereira would prefer a move to Arsenal over Everton, given the Gunners remain in European competition.

Pereira, who has won league titles with FC Porto twice, Olympiakos and indeed his current side, is out of contract at the end of the month but the report claims that he has an offer on the table from Shanghai to extend his deal in the Chinese Super League.

Arsenal will have their work cut out. It is believed SIPG are so desperate to keep Pereira that they are set to offer him a pay rise, taking his wages to £405,000 a week. A move to Arsenal is likely to see Pereira earn less than half of that figure.

But the lure of taking over one of England’s biggest clubs in arguably the most competitive league in Europe is proving tantalising for Pereira, who would much rather a move to Arsenal than Goodison Park.

Arsenal supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that their side are interested in bringing Pereira, but many are unimpressed. Some have even questioned who Pereira is, while others hope that it is not true.
