Arsenal fans react as club reportedly open talks to sign Julian Brandt

Arsenal are reportedly interested in raiding Borussia Dortmund for out-of-form attacker Julian Brandt and are said to have opened initial talks over a move – and Gunners fans have responded to the news on Twitter.

Last season, 24-year-old Brandt had a hand in 20 goals during 42 league and cup appearances in what was his first season at the Westfalenstadion after joining from Bayer Leverkusen. This season, he has not been as profitable.

Just one goal and one assist have come Brandt’s way in 22 outings. The German, who can play on either wing or in the 10 role, has dropped out of the starting line-up – coming off the bench in his last three league appearances.

Arsenal are looking to take advantage of that. They claim the Gunners have made an enquiry to sign Brandt this month – whether that is a loan deal or on a permanent basis. Mikel Arteta needs creativity.

Indeed, Arsenal’s decision to ostracise Mesut Ozil has left them without the required creativity in attacking midfield. Emile Smith-Rowe has impressed in Arsenal’s last two Premier League games, but it is clear Arsenal want a signing.

Gunners fans have reacted on Twitter to reports that an enquiry has been made and are desperate to see Brandt arrive in north London. One fan suggested a player-plus-cash deal with Willian.
