Arsenal fans react as club reportedly eye RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku
Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on RB Leipzig midfielder Christopher Nkunku ahead of the January transfer window as the Frenchman continues to shine in the Bundesliga – and Gunners fans are desperate to see him sign.
Nkunku, 22, joined Leipzig from PSG in the summer of 2019 for a fee believed to be in the region of £12million. Unai Emery wanted to beat Leipzig to his signature, but he moved to Germany instead.
His form for Leipzig last season will have had Arsenal regretting their failure to nab his signature. Clocking up 44 appearances in all competitions, Nkunku had a hand in 21 goals – scoring five times and creating 16 more.
Many of those assists came from corners, with Nkunku boasting excellent set-piece ability that Julian Nagelsmann took full advantage of. This season, he even scored a crucial goal in a 2-1 Champions League win over PSG.

Now, Arsenal are ready to return in their pursuit of the France Under-21 star. It is believed Arsenal have watched Nkunku, as have French side Lyon – with Leipzig rating Nkunku at £36million.
Arsenal do have options out wide, and in attacking midfield – but having a player of Nkunku’s versatility that allows him to play on either flank or in the 10 role – is crucial for a side that are looking to win the Europa League.
Arsenal supporters have responded on Twitter to the reports that they remain interested in signing Nkunku with Lyon also keen – and many are convinced that landing the player would be good business.
