Arsenal fans name the club legend they want to replace Carlos Cuesta, he’s a ‘natural fit’ for Mikel Arteta’s staff

Arsenal are reportedly set to lose one of their top coaches this summer in Carlos Cuesta.

The Gunners man is closing in on the job of head coach at Italian side Parma, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Arsenal and Parma are said to be in the ‘final stages’ of talks for Cuesta, who is set to replace Cristian Chivu following his move to Inter Milan.

Arsenal fans are gutted over the reports of Cuesta’s expected move, but they have someone in mind who they think would do a great job of replacing him.

Arsenal fans want Santi Cazorla to join Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff

Arsenal fans have called for Emirates cult hero Santi Cazorla to come in once his spell at Real Oviedo comes to an end.

One supporter wrote on X: “Can we please bring Cazorla now Cuesta is going?”

Another said: “With Carlos Cuesta going, bring Santi Cazorla home if he does retire.

“Arteta has always said he’d give Santi the opportunity if he wanted it.”

The calls to bring Cazorla to N5 kept coming, with one Arsenal fan saying: “Cuesta joining Parma as head coach. Didn’t see that coming.

“Bit of loss given how much he was rated according to people in the know. Santi?”

Another wrote: “Santi Cazorla to replace Carlos Cuesta would be my shout. After this season ends with Oviedo.”

Another said: “Just bring in Santi Cazorla to replace him. Wishing him all the best at Parma.”

What Santi Cazorla has said about potential Arsenal return

It remains to be seen what happens with Cazorla, as he is still contracted to Real Oviedo as a player until the end of the month.

Oviedo still have an opportunity to go up into La Liga as their promotion playoff final with Mirandes is over two legs, and the second leg takes place on Saturday.

Should Cazorla opt against staying at Oviedo, or if his contract is not renewed by the club, then he could well consider a return to the Emirates.

Cazorla was at the Premier League game between Arsenal and Ipswich Town in December last year, and he hinted at a return to the North London club.

Before kick-off, Cazorla was interviewed pitchside, where he sung Arteta’s praises.

“He’s doing an amazing job,” he said, as per .

“I think it’s difficult to fight last year with Man City and this year with Liverpool but they have to keep on going. I believe in them.”

When asked if he would consider a return to the Emirates, Cazorla replied: “Yes, why not? Arsenal is my home. I love the club and the people, so we will see in the future.

“I don’t know [what role I would have]. I would have to think about that but something in football for sure, because that is what I love.”
