Arsenal look to have chosen to go down the route of bringing in Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP over RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

TBR Football reported on Sunday morning that Gyokeres was confident he’d sign for Arsenal, and now talks appear to have accelerated.

Sesko’s price tag put Arsenal off pursuing a deal for him, as RB Leipzig were asking for no less than £78 million for the young striker.

The North London club’s supporters have now been giving their thoughts on the situation to Andrea Berta, and the message is clear.

Arsenal fans are delighted by the news that the North London club are moving for Viktor Gyokeres ahead of Benjamin Sesko.

The Gunners’ supporters feel that Gyokeres brings a greater guarantee of scoring now compared to Sesko and his potential.

It’s hard to argue against that case with the Swedish striker having scored 54 goals in 52 matches for Sporting CP last term.

Meanwhile, Sesko netted on 21 occasions in 45 games, highlighting the fact that interested clubs would be buying him for his potential to keep growing as a goal scorer.

Mikel Arteta now has a proven striker who is ready to score goals and is in his prime years, following two very successful campaigns in the Portuguese top flight.

Following the news that a deal for Gyokeres is close to getting done, Arsenal supporters have taken to X to share their thoughts on the situation.

One fan said: “What does Sesko have over Gyokeres? Genuine question. Why are people upset. We are finally signing a proper striker.

Another added: “Happy with this, I’m not falling for the ‘he won’t do well in the Prem’, Sesko is £20m more and more of a project player. Proper striker is Gyokeres.”

There was further praise for Arsenal’s Gyokeres move: “I always liked the idea of what Sesko could potentially grow into, and he would have succeeded at Arsenal regardless. But I also always wanted to see just what Gyokeres could do in an Arsenal shirt with the movement and hunger for goals he has. He was always my preference.”

Finally, another added: “Sesko is just a better version of Havertz. Gyokeres is going to scare defences up and down the country, will bang goals!”
