Arsenal fans have a clear message for the board after Gabriel Martinelli suffers hamstring injury vs Newcastle
Arsenal’s woes were compounded by an injury to Gabriel Martinelli who was forced off with a hamstring issue against Newcastle United.
Martinelli’s injury is yet another attacking concern for Mikel Arteta to contend with as Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus are already sidelined.
The Brazilian is now due to undergo scans to assess how bad the issue might be and the Gunners will be left sweating over his fitness.
The North London club’s supporters now have a clear message for the board following a thoroughly underwhelming January transfer window.

Arsenal fans fume at squad management after Gabriel Martinelli’s injury
Arsenal fans are fuming at the board following Gabriel Martinelli’s injury as they failed to bring in another attacker during the January transfer window.
Arteta wanted to sign a forward during January, however, the club failed to get any deals over the line and the Spaniard has been left to work with what he’s got.
Arsenal looked at a deal for Ollie Watkins but the Aston Villa man proved too expensive for the Gunners and other targets like Nico Williams, Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres were simply unattainable.
Following the match, Arsenal supporters took to X to share their frustrations towards the board for their inability to sign another attacking body for their manager.
One fan said: “We had an entire month to sign a forward and did nothing. Half an hour into our next game Martinelli’s hamstring goes. We’ve brought this on ourselves. Inexcusable squad management.”
“Now Martinelli is injured?? The Premier League really needs to look into having some kind of window for doing transfers in the middle of the season so clubs can handle situations like this,” added another.
There was yet more frustration: “Martinelli has done his hamstring. Lucky for us we strengthened in the January window.”
“Martinelli’s hamstring two days after the window closes? Who could’ve seen that coming,” concluded another fan.
What Mikel Arteta said about Gabriel Martinelli’s injury
Arteta has revealed that Martinelli “felt something” in his hamstring against Newcastle and just wasn’t able to continue to St. James’ Park.
The 23-year-old has played a lot of football recently with Arteta unable to rotate given his limited options in attack.
Speaking after the game, Arteta told the media: “He felt something, I think it was his hamstring and he wasn’t comfortable to continue. So we will have to have an MRI scan tomorrow to see the extent of the injury.”
