Arsenal fans hail David Luiz after honest chat with Ian Wright

Some Arsenal fans have heaped praise in David Luiz after club legend Ian Wright released an interview with the star.

In it, the Brazilian discussed the particularly tough personal moment of last season for him against Manchester City.

Luiz endured a torrid evening against Pep Guardiola’s side back in June, which ended in him being sent off.

After being substituted on for the injured Pablo Mari, Luiz failed to clear a ball for Raheem Sterling to open the scoring, and also conceded a penalty for a foul on Riyad Mahrez which resulted in his marching orders.

Since then, Luiz has really improved for Arsenal and the 33-year-old : “I am a guy with a heart. And I think that day helped me for the future.

“I take the blame. I was there. It’s my name, no problem. I’m going to put my face out there. And I have to prepare for the next.

“At the end of the day you have to represent this big badge with pride, with pleasure and do your job. It’s a big club, it’s a big name, you’re going to have to take the criticism. It’s OK. The guys can criticise me, I’m going to accept.”

Leader Luiz, who earns £100,000-a-week at the Emirates (), then told Wright that he instructed his despondent teammates not to go to the press that night, so that he could go before them and front up to his mistakes.

Lots of Arsenal fans were absolutely blown away by Luiz’s comments to Wright, with many praising the star’s mentality:
