Arsenal fans amazed by Leeds Under-23 star Sam Greenwood’s moment of genius
Sam Greenwood scored an incredible free-kick for Leeds United’s Under-23 side on Monday afternoon as the Whites smashed West Brom to take a step closer to promotion – and Arsenal fans have reacted to their former player’s brilliant goal on Twitter.
Greenwood, 19, left Arsenal to join Leeds for a mere £1.5million last summer – with the ex-Sunderland man of the opinion that he would get more game time at Elland Road than at Arsenal. He has since made his first-team debut under Marcelo Bielsa.
Not only that, but his displays for the 23’s have been incredible. On Monday, he netted his eighth goal of the season for the second string in just 15 games – despite being moulded into an attacking midfielder, after initially joining as a striker.
On Monday, Greenwood enjoyed arguably his best moment for the 23’s. Standing over a free-kick right of centre, probably more than 25 yards out, Greenwood sent a curling effort over the top of the West Brom keeper and into the far, top corner.
A moment of genius from the Leeds attacker, and it prompted Arsenal fans to react on Twitter. Many were impressed, while some suggested that letting him go could come back to haunt the Gunners. One supporter Tweeted: “I miss him”.
