Arsenal fans all think Martin Zubimendi is about to receive a boost as rumour emerges from the Emirates Stadium
Martin Zubimendi is expected to become Arsenal’s first summer signing and also Andrea Berta’s first addition as sporting director.
TBR Football has already revealed that Berta agreed terms with Zubimendi’s camp as Mikel Arteta adds to his midfield depth in North London.
Ian Wright is excited about the prospect of Zubimendi joining Arsenal as the former Gunners star believes that needed upgrading.
But the latest news from Fabrizio Romano suggests that the North London club are also set to extend the contract of Thomas Partey, which the club’s supporters think could benefit their new arrival.

Arsenal and Thomas Partey’s contract talks are going ‘quite well’
Arsenal and Thomas Partey’s contract talks are going ‘quite well’, according to Fabrizio Romano. The midfielder is now expected to sign a new deal and stay for at least another season at the Emirates Stadium.
Romano told his YouTube channel: “On Thomas Partey, the conversation between Arsenal and the camp of Partey is still ongoing. Discussions are ongoing, the player is showing interest in extending his contract at Arsenal.”
There is also the fact that Mikel Arteta is keen to keep hold of the former Atletico Madrid midfielder, and that is why talks remain ongoing.
“From what I am hearing, these conversations are going quite well. The possibility of Thomas Partey staying is also concrete because Arteta wants the player to stay,” added Romano.
“So, to keep one of the experienced midfielders who knows the dressing room and how important it is for Arsenal to have experience. The expectation is for Thomas Partey to stay at Arsenal.”
Arsenal fans think Thomas Partey can help Martin Zubimendi
Arsenal fans believe Partey still being part of Arteta’s squad next season will allow Zubimendi the time to settle in at the club.
The 26-year-old will be arriving in a new league and country and will inevitably need time to adapt to his new surroundings.
Partey being there will take the pressure off the Euro 2024 winner to hit the ground running and also relieve the burden of playing most matches. Arsenal’s supporters have been reacting to the news on X.
One fan said: “Good move. Give him a one-plus-one contract. He helps Zubimendi to settle in (same position and language) and he covers at right-back for White and Timber.
Another added: “Great news! A short-term extension for Thomas Partey makes perfect sense. His experience and presence can still play a big role. Glad to see both sides moving in the right direction!”
There was yet more praise for Partey’s contract extension: “We will have the best six depth in Europe with Zubimendi, Partey and Rice, just need that level in attack now and we are set.”
Finally, another fan claimed: “Good. He’ll have less playing time due to Zubimendi and Lewis Skelly. However, he sufficiently covers that position, meaning we don’t need to buy a defensive midfielder for at least a year. It means we can also focus our efforts on other positions.”
