Arsenal ‘exploring’ another transfer in recent days with late signing possible

Arsenal are far from done with their business in this summer’s transfer window.

The Gunners have addressed a few key issues already this summer. David Raya’s loan was made permanent as expected, and Edu Gaspar then struck deals to sign Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino.

To add to that, Emile Smith Rowe has been sold to Fulham. Now, Eddie Nketiah is on the verge of joining Crystal Palace and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is set to join Southampton as well.

It has been a good window for Arsenal, but there could be more before Friday’s transfer deadline, claims Fabrizio Romano on .

Arsenal ‘exploring’ a new winger but one thing needs to happen first

Arsenal have been on the market for a new winger since the window opened.

The Gunners have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left flank, but Bukayo Saka is all alone on the opposite side.

Yes, Reiss Nelson can play there, but the Englishman is not a like-for-like alternative for the left-footed Arsenal number seven.

Romano has now confirmed that Arsenal have been exploring opportunities to sign a new winger in recent days, but a move is not straightforward.

That’s because Arsenal have not found a way to sell Nelson yet in this window. Unless that changes, a move for a new wide player is unlikely.

A late winger signing is still possible, but it all depends on Nelson.

Romano said: “Look, for Arsenal, there is still a feeling Arsenal could do something for a winger.

“But, it’s important to understand first of all what happens with Reiss Nelson – if there is a club in the final two days prepared to sign Reiss Nelson.

“In that case, for Arsenal, it could be an opportunity to bring in one more player. Arsenal have been exploring the market of wingers in recent days.”

The one winger Arsenal definitely won’t sign this summer

Signing a new top-class wide player will make this a complete window for Arsenal.

Yes, some may argue that they need a new striker too, but Kai Havertz has been doing well there, while Gabriel Jesus and Trossard can both fill in if required.

That makes a new winger the priority, and Arsenal have been linked with plenty of names over the last few weeks.

There is, however, disappointment for the Gunners about one of Arteta’s main targets.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal will not be signing Nico Williams in this window because the Spaniard has decided to stay at Athletic Bilbao.

The Gunners have respected his decision and will not make a late move.
