‘Arsenal DNA’, ‘perfect for Arsenal’: Some Gunners fans react to 23-year-old’s Bundesliga display

A number of Arsenal fans have been commenting on Twitter about reported Gunners target Nico Elvedi, who was in Bundesliga action for Borussia Monchengladbach against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

According to French outlet , the 23-year-old defender is attracting interest from both Arsenal and Bayern Munich, who are exploring the possibility of signing him in the next transfer window.

Elvedi’s contract with Monchengladbach expires at the end of the 2020-21 season, so if the Bundesliga side cannot get him to renew, they could be forced to either sell him or run the risk of losing him on a free transfer.

The eyes of several Arsenal fans were on the 6ft 2in Switzerland international as Gladbach hosted Leverkusen, and he had a mixed game to say the least.

Elvedi played Kai Havertz onside for the seventh-minute opener, made a heroic last-ditch tackle to deny Kerem Demirbay’s goal-bound effort, and then made a rash tackle to give away a penalty for Havertz’s second.

Gladbach were beaten 3-1 in the end, Marcus Thuram’s 52nd-minute equaliser being cancelled by the Havertz spot kick six minutes later, before Sven Bender rounded off the scoring nine minutes from time.

Here is what some Arsenal fans made of Elvedi’s display on the day:
