Arsenal could reportedly sign Roma star in swap deal, his agents comments from last summer are intriguing
Arsenal could reportedly sign Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara in a swap deal this summer, which would see Jose Mourinho land Granit Xhaka. Mourinho is keen on numerous Premier League players, and Diawara’s agent claimed last summer he would be happy to join Arsenal.
Diawara, 23, joined Roma two years ago from Napoli and has since played 58 times in all competitions. The Guinea international is one of Serie A’s best young midfielders, but is being strongly linked with a move to the Premier League and Arsenal are the latest club to consider a move.
Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport claim Diawara could move to Arsenal, in a player-plus-cash deal for Xhaka. Roma are ready to pay £13million plus Diawara to sign Arsenal’s left-footed midfielder. A good move for the Gunners, with Xhaka indifferent.
Rewinding back to the start of the 2020-21 campaign, Diawara was being linked with the Gunners. Speaking after those links, his agent Daniele Piraino said interest from Arsenal was met with excitment from Diawara. A move to Arsenal would ‘please’ Diawara.
“Diawara is at a top club like Roma, where he is happy, as there is enthusiasm around the new owners. However, he is a target for many clubs in England, including Arsenal. Certain clubs are pleasing for him, as these are prestigious sides,”

Is Diawara the right move for Arsenal, amid Xhaka swap claims?
What is right, is that Xhaka needs to leave. His time at Arsenal is up and he needs to find himself a new adventure. Fans are becoming tired of his average performances. His tantrum during a substitution against Palace is still fresh in the memory.
If Arsenal can rake in more than £10million and sign a player like Diawara as his replacement, then it is an absolute no brainer for Arsenal. Xhaka could be keen on a move to Roma, but Diawara would be happy to move to Arsenal. Roma are willing to offer that deal, and Arsenal would be foolish not to accept.
