Arsenal could be prepared to bid £30m for Chukwuemeka – journalist
Journalist Graeme Bailey has told that Arsenal view Carney Chukwuemeka as someone who would potentially start for them as they look to sign the Aston Villa teenager this summer.
The 18-year-old looks to be heading for the Villa Park exit at some stage. His contract with the Villans expires at the end of next season. And it seems that he has no intention of signing an extension.
Obviously, Steven Gerrard has been left in a difficult position. Chukwuemeka made a number of appearances for the first-team last season. And Villa rate him incredibly highly.
However, if they do not sell him this summer and he remains determined to not sign another contract, then Villa will be somewhat powerless over his future.
Reports have claimed that Arsenal want the teenage midfielder. And Bailey has suggested that the Gunners do indeed have their eye on Chukwuemeka.
But they do not exactly view him as one for the future. In fact, they may be prepared to part with a huge sum to win the race for his signature in this window.
“At the moment, he is turning down this contract, he is refusing to sign it. And that’s why we’re seeing Arsenal and Newcastle linked. And Arsenal and Newcastle both see this guy as someone who could potentially start for them. He’s that good,” .
“Someone said to me they’d want over £40 million for him. They’re not going to get that because of his contract situation. But would someone like Arsenal pay £20-£30 million? I think they probably would because he is such a huge talent.
“In England, within the scouting ranks, they think this guy is one of the best 18-year-olds we’ve seen in a long time.”

Of course, Arsenal’s marquee move in this window is the signing of Gabriel Jesus. for the Brazilian as he approached the final year of his Manchester City contract.
Jesus scored 95 goals during his time with the Cityzens. And he has won a raft of domestic honours.
So the fact that Arsenal could potentially be willing to pay more than half that amount to try and sign Chukwuemeka this summer says so much about his potential.
