The English transfer window may be shut, but Arsenal may not yet be done in terms of offloading players this winter.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are set to move Marquinhos on in the coming days, with agreement reached on a switch to Fluminense.
The transfer insider, taking to on Wednesday, reported that Arsenal and Fluminense have agreed on an initial loan deal, also relaying news of a buy option clause.
Romano also claimed that a verbal pact is in place to be completed in the coming days. Marquinhos has already accepted and is now just waiting on the final formal steps.

Marquinhos likely to leave Arsenal for good
And so, it looks like the Brazilian’s time at Arsenal is coming to an end. If he does well at Fluminense, then there’s no reason why they wouldn’t take up the option to buy outright.
It’s a shame, considering how much of a talent Marquinhos has, and how much of this he showed in his early days at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal famously struck gold in 2018 when they signed Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano in a £6million deal. He is now worth around £126.5million, according to the .
There were hopes that Marquinhos could be the latest gem to come from Brazil and develop into a bona fide Premier League star.
In September 2022, he made his Arsenal debut in a Europa League outing against FC Zurich, and was absolutely outstanding in the 2-1 win.
Marquinhos scored the opening goal with a brilliantly-composed finish after some superb work from Fabio Vieira and Eddie Nketiah.
He then went on to provide the assist for the winner with a brilliant cross towards the back post.
Arsenal talent Marquinhos deemed ‘a take-two’ of Bukayo Saka
Marquinhos’ performance led to Arsenal legend Martin Keown to compare him to Bukayo Saka and Serge Gnabry.
“Some great performances on show,” he said on (broadcast on 8/9/22; 19:39).
“Marquinhos, he looks like a take-two of Saka, doesn’t he? Left-footed player, plays on that right wing.
“One assist, one goal, really, that’s a real plus for the manager because he can look upon him now and say, ‘okay, we can bring you in if we need him’.
“He’s got a huge future ahead of him. He looked like a Gnabry-type player, short, stocky, really explosive pace. And he was very classy.”
However, Marquinhos hasn’t really kicked on at Arsenal. Last year, he went out on loan to Norwich, but only made 11 appearances.
And last summer, the Gunners sent him out on loan to French club Nantes in the first half of the season, but again, things didn’t quite go to plan.
The 20-year-old made just seven appearances for the Ligue 1 club, for a meagre total of 150 minutes of competitive football, and was recalled.
Now, it looks like Marquinhos’ next loan move could see him leave Arsenal permanently. Let’s hope he can find his form back in Brazil and perhaps earn himself a second shot in Europe in the coming years.
At the same time, considering Serge Gnabry struggled on loan at West Brom, was offloaded and then became a world-class superstar, you can’t help but wonder whether Arsenal risk repeating the same mistake.
