Martin Keown doesn’t think Chelsea star David Luiz is right for Arsenal
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has told the that the Gunners should refrain from signing Chelsea star David Luiz.
A deal worth £8 million is expected to go through which will see the Brazilian make the move across London to the Emirates Stadium.
Keown was a formidable central defender in his time. He spent 11 years with the Gunners and won plenty of silverware with the club.

He believes that although Arsenal are crying out for a central defender, Luiz isn’t the solution to their conundrum.
“If I was at Arsenal and had the ear of Unai Emery, I would be advising my manager not to sign David Luiz.
“Walk away from this deal. This is not the defender for you. It’s too high risk.
“Yes, Arsenal want a centre back, but Luiz the answer to their prayers? I don’t think so.”
Contrasting styles
Keown elaborated to suggest that the 32-year-old might have a problem slotting into the style that Emery likes to play.
“The ways he plays, he would be exposed in that Arsenal defence. He would not get the same protection that he enjoys at Chelsea, where N’Golo Kante patrols the backline.
“In possession, Luiz is a wonderful passer, but he makes mistakes when playing as part of a back four.”
Luiz is expected to complete his switch to Arsenal before the window slams shut later on today.

Time will tell whether or not Keown is right about the impact the player could have on the current Arsenal team.
One thing is for sure, he is an improvement on the current crop. Shkodran Mustafi was comical last season, whilst Rob Holding and Callum Chambers remain with a point to prove.
The performer is passionate and perhaps his determination is the attribute that can take Arsenal forward.
