Arsenal can now sign £60m target for just £17m with club simply desperate to get rid
Arsenal could now secure themselves a bargain – purely due to one club’s desire to avoid an awkward situation.
Edu Gaspar – Director of Football at the Emirates Stadium – has already made some wise additions in his role, signing Gabriel Martinelli for just £6m and Leandro Trossard for only £21m.
Now, Arsenal could secure another bargain…
Arsenal could sign Joao Cancelo for just £17m
A story from in Spain now claims that Manchester City are willing to sell Joao Cancelo for as little as €20m (£17m) this summer.
It comes after a separate story from revealed that Arsenal are keen to sign the Portugal international – who Mikel Arteta worked with during his time as No.2 to Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
The Spanish news outlet believe Manchester City are desperate to sell Cancelo before he is due to return to Manchester for pre-season, following a fallout between the defender and Guardiola.
Manchester City were previously requesting €60m (£51m) for the man they spent to sign from Juventus back in August 2019 – before reducing that to €30m (£25m) when nobody showed interest.

Now, SPORT believe that sum has dropped down to €20m (£17m), with Guardiola determined to push through a sale before Cancelo’s holiday – extended due to his Euro 2024 exploits with Portugal – ends.
The report adds that Barcelona and Juventus are also keen to sign the full-back this summer.
Mikel Arteta has wanted the Portugal international for over 12 months
If Arsenal sign Cancelo this summer, it would bring closure to an ongoing saga.

A story from the back in March claimed that Arsenal actually made an approach for the 30-year-old in the summer of 2023, although Manchester City told the Gunners to go away after almost losing their Premier League title to Arteta’s side the season before.
