Arsenal are trying to make another mystery signing after Mikel Merino as Edu gets busy

Arsenal and Edu have been rather busy in the past week behind the scenes with plenty of rumours swirling around involving the London club.

Arsenal fans weren’t best pleased with Edu when he sold Mika Biereth earlier on this window, but the signing of Mikel Merino will go a long way to making up for that.

The final days of the transfer window is often the time when random deals can come out of the woodworks with a big scramble to make sure all areas are covered and managers are happy.

For Arsenal, there are still many different things going on.

Aaron Ramsdale’s future remains a talking point after Wolves pulled the plug on a deal and there’s even bizarre links between Liverpool star Darwin Nunez and Arsenal.

However, one man who seems to know exactly what’s going on regarding potential signings at Arsenal is Jason Burt…

Arsenal are eyeing a forward signing in the final days

A third-choice or even a back-up goalkeeper appeared to be on the radar for Arsenal this window after Arteta made two bids for Dan Bentley of Wolves.

But, while speaking on , chief Telegraph reporter Jason Burt had some exciting news for Arsenal fans.

“Well there’s rumours going round that they’re (Arsenal) still looking for another forward player and I’m not quite sure who that is at the moment. But that is certainly something I’ve heard today that they might have one more to do if they can get something done”.

There’s no doubting a forward is needed at Arsenal given their lack of depth up top, but to hear that as being the position that they’re prioritising is a surprise as Ian Wright wants a back-up for Bukayo Saka.

Which striker could Arsenal sign before the deadline?

Mikel Arteta is making the right call if what Jason Burt has said is true, though a back-up for Saka is equally as important.

In terms of potential striker additions, Viktor Gyokeres has failed to rule out a move away amid interest from Arsenal, though that one does seem too far fetched as his release clause sits at £86 million.

Elsewhere, Ivan Toney is another name that has been interesting the north London club but Toney already has his sights set on a move to the Saudi Pro League.

A late Arsenal bid for Evan Ferguson has also been rumoured, but like the others linked, any potential move for him is going to cost an awful lot of money.

When you’re as good as Arsenal are and with the quality of players Arteta already has at his disposal, it’s really difficult to find players to add to the squad who aren’t going to cost an arm and a leg.
