Arsenal are still thinking about signing ‘world class’ striker after starting Benjamin Sesko talks

Arsenal are turning up the heat as they start to move on their summer transfer plans.

Martin Zubimendi is already set to sign for Arsenal, and the Gunners are now moving on their second key signing of the summer.

Arsenal are in talks over signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

Sesko has long been a key Arsenal target, and the Gunners are now making their move for the Slovenian.

However, Arsenal aren’t putting all of their eggs in the Sesko basket just yet.

Indeed, according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, Arsenal are still considering a move for Viktor Gyokeres despite the fact they’ve now made contact over a move for Sesko.

Arsenal still considering Viktor Gyokeres

Romano shared what he knows about Arsenal and their search for a striker.

Arsenal are advancing on Sesko, but they do still have half an eye on Gyokeres too.

Gyokeres has been labelled ‘world class’ in recent times and Arsenal remain keen on the Sporting striker.

“Mikel Arteta and all the other people at the club have approved these contacts for Benjamin Sesko. The conversations are ongoing. Remember, Arsenal still have under consideration other strikers such as Viktor Gyokeres, but for Benjamin Sesko, Arsenal have now started contacts on the club side and the player’s side,” Romano said.

Viktor Gyokeres compared to Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal have two very talented strikers in their sights here.

Gyokeres has been excellent over in Portugal for quite some time now, while Sesko isn’t quite hitting those heights, he has some incredible raw attributes.

Arsenal have a massive decision to make here, and when you look at the numbers, it’s hard to see which is the right route to go down.

On one hand, Gyokeres is scoring more than Sesko by some distance.

Then again, Sesko is younger, he’s playing in a stronger league and, as Romano says, Mikel Arteta has approved this transfer target.

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens in the coming days as Arsenal continue to search for a new number nine.
