Arsenal are still in the hunt to sign ‘outstanding’ striker before the end of the window
TBR Football understands that Arsenal still haven’t given up on signing Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel before Monday’s deadline.
Since Tel was offered to Arsenal among other Premier League clubs earlier this week, a lot has happened.
For a moment it seemed as if the French striker would be heading to Arsenal’s rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Daniel Levy was in Munich trying to finalise a deal for 19-year-old but Tel then rejected Tottenham, a striker who would prefer to head elsewhere or stay at Bayern.
Tel appeared to wave goodbye to Bayern fans after making a surprise start for Vincent Kompany’s side in the Champions League in mid-week, but it is still possible that the striker will stay put after all.
Arsenal still interested in signing Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich
Graeme Bailey – chief correspondent at TBR Football, understands that Arsenal are not out of the Tel race just yet.
Bayern are now having second thoughts about the striker leaving the club this month, a player who is considered to have significant potential.

As a result, a straight loan to the Premier League without an option or obligation to buy seems to now be the preferred option for the German club – something that could suit Mikel Arteta’s side.
Arsenal couldn’t sanction another domestic loan for Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson given that Neto and Raheem Sterling are already at the club.
But Arsenal could welcome a temporary arrival like Tel from overseas, a striker who is equally adept at playing on the left-wing.
Of course, it has to be mentioned that Manchester United are still in a strong position to take Tel to Old Trafford, a saga that promises to attract a fair bit of attention on deadline day.
Harry Kane has already talked up Mathys Tel’s ability
Arsenal recently accepted the reality that they won’t be able to bring forward a deal for their first choice strikers this month.
Arsenal want Alexander Isak or Benjamin Sesko in the summer, two deals that would be near impossible to conclude for the Gunners before the end of Monday.
That being said, Tel could be a good solution for Arteta, who has openly spoken about his desire to strengthen his striker force.
Harry Kane called Tel outstanding in the past, a player who is yet to score this season as a result of not starting too often for Bayern.
Tel would want guarantees over his game time were he to move on loan in next 48 hours, a young striker who simply wants more chances.
