Arsenal are ‘one step away’ from signing ‘amazing’ player with £42m deal agreed
Arsenal are edging towards making a first summer signing for Mikel Arteta as they close in on a £42m deal.
The Gunners are looking to move quickly this summer as they look to strengthen the squad once more and once again challenge Manchester City.
Last summer saw Arsenal’s board go and spend big money on the likes of Declan Rice and Kai Havertz, while Jurrien Timber and David Raya also arrived to strengthen.
However, Arsenal still missed out on the title in the end and the idea now is to add more quality to the first XI and squad in general, in the hope that it finally reels Pep Guardiola’s side in.
And according to reports coming out of Italy, Arsenal are now just a step away from making a big breakthrough.

Arsenal one step away from signing Riccardo Calafiori
Reports all week have suggested Arsenal are pushing to sign Italian defender Calafiori and now, it looks like things are edging closer to being done.
According to DAZN Italia journalist, , Arsenal are just a step away from signing Calafiori.
Taking to X to confirm the update on the Italian defender, Accomando has claimed a £42m deal has been agreed between Arsenal and Bologna, while Calafiori will sign a deal worth around £4m-a-season.
For Arsenal manager Arteta, getting yet another new defender in this summer was seen as a priority.
This, despite the pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba being key, and the performances of Ben White and others being excellent.
Calafiori, though, can play on the left side of a back four or back three and after impressing in the Euros, the ‘amazing’ defender looks a solid fit for The Gunners.
Indeed, it would be no surprise to see a deal completely done this weekend as Arsenal prepare to ramp things up ahead of pre-season getting fully underway shortly.
