Arsenal are now pushing hard to sign ‘incredible’ striker instead of Victor Osimhen

Arsenal’s search for a new striker is now underway with less than two weeks now until the start of the new Premier League season.

Mikel Arteta has worked patiently this summer as he has awaited the signing of Riccardo Calafiori in recent weeks.

Having acquired the Italy international, Arsenal have now looked to move their interest to Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.

And with a deal believed to be advancing, it now seems as if Arsenal‘s focus could well be shifting on to bringing in a new striker.

There is one forward who the Gunners are now actively pursuing as a potential alternative to Victor Osimhen this summer.

Arsenal are now pursuing deal for ‘incredible’ Victor Osimhen alternative

Over recent weeks, Arsenal have been heavily linked with a potential move for Victor Osimhen as his Napoli future hangs in the balance.

However, the north London side are not the only club in that race and will, therefore, need to have other options on their radar.

And it seems as if there is already one other striker who Arteta’s side are actively pursuing ahead of this month’s transfer deadline.

According to , Arsenal are now ‘very active’ in the race to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer.

The Sweden international is currently playing his football over in Portugal with Sporting CP and is not a player that would come cheap.

Having enjoyed an ‘incredible‘ 2023/24 campaign, Gyokeres would cost any side around £86m this summer due to his release clause.

But he is certainly a striker who could provide Arsenal with a solid Osimhen alternative having netted 43 goals across all competitions last season.

Arsenal adding the final pieces to Mikel Arteta’s squad

This Arsenal side really does feel as if it is now coming together after years under Arteta.

The Spaniard has took Arsenal so close to Premier League triumph over the last two seasons but a matter of points have held them back.

But this summer, the business potentially being done could well prove the difference maker with some real top quality players on their radar.

Considering the Gunners have not had a consistent goal stream coming from the likes of Gabriel Jesus, adding a striker like Gyokeres could well prove a game changer in Arsenal’s title hopes.
