Arsenal are about to sign a player who Edu has admired for years with medical underway

Edu Gaspar – Director of Football at the Emirates Stadium – is presumably very happy with a deal Arsenal are about to pull off.

The Brazilian has already managed to bring Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino to north London – agreeing deals with Bologna and Real Sociedad respectively – although he is now about to sign one of his favourites for Mikel Arteta after pencilling the player in for a medical.

So, which Edu Gaspar favourite is close to joining Arsenal? Let’s take a look…

Edu favourite Neto undergoing Arsenal medical ahead of Bournemouth exit

It was revealed early on transfer deadline day that Bournemouth No.1 Neto is set to undergo a medical with Arsenal.

Now – according to – this medical has officially begun, with the reliable news outlet also sharing some information about Edu and the Brazil international.

It is said that the 46-year-old has admired his fellow countryman for years, and has been a huge fan of Neto throughout his career in football.

You may recall that the Gunners tried to sign the 35-year-old in previous transfer windows during his time at Barcelona, with The Sun claiming that Arsenal wanted Neto back in January 2021.

Now, the north Londoners are finally set to sign the man from Araxa.

Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton

Once a deal for Neto is finalised, it will free up Ramsdale to leave the Emirates Stadium.

Football London add that the England international has agreed to join Southampton in a £25m deal after losing his No.1 spot to David Raya, with that move set to be green lit after the Brazilian completes his medical with Arsenal.

While Ramsdale is a better goalkeeper than Neto, this deal makes excellent reading from a financial point of view for Arsenal, as £25m is set to be made from the sale, with no transfer fee spent on replacing him as a loan deal has been agreed with Bournemouth initially.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Arsenal close in on the man.
