Arsenal and Liverpool send scouts to watch £80m attacker play against Tottenham

TBR Football can reveal that Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United were all present in Frankfurt on Thursday evening, with the main reason for their visit being to check on Hugo Ekitike.

The three Premier League giants are well aware of Ekitike, and the striker is on their radar as he emerges as an option for this summer, as TBR Football has revealed.

Arsenal and Liverpool were also in attendance for the first leg to watch Etkitike, in which the Frenchman scored Frankfurt’s only goal of the tie against Tottenham Hotspur.

Both clubs went to check in on him again on Thursday, however, this time around, his display may have left them with question marks over whether to bring him to England.

Liverpool, Newcastle and Arsenal also watch Hugo Larsson and Nathaniel Brown

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been told that Liverpool, Newcastle United and Arsenal, who also have eyes on the likes of Hugo Larsson and Nathaniel Brown, wanted to see Hugo Ekitike up against a Premier League defence and particularly one of the league’s best defenders in Cristian Romero.

Indeed, the Argentine defender enjoyed a top-class evening as he helped guide Spurs to a crucial clean sheet, including keeping Ekitike at bay.

Tottenham reached the semi-finals of the Europa League in what was a rather quiet night for the 22-year-old, who was visibly upset at the full-time whistle.

The French youth international managed just two efforts at goal, one of which was off target and the other was blocked.

The scouts from the Premier League giants won’t have left with glowing reports and with some slight doubts over paying Frankfurt’s hefty asking price.

What is Frankfurt’s price tag for Hugo Ekitike?

Frankfurt would ideally like to keep Ekitike, but should they sell him, TBR Football understands that they would demand around £80 million.

TBR Football revealed earlier this week that Ekitike could yet stay at Frankfurt for another season, given his price tag and the fact that he is not top of either Liverpool or Arsenal’s lists.
