‘Negotiations on’: Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal have agreed personal terms with 27-year-old

Arsenal are continuing with their pursuit of USA goalkeeper, Matt Turner, with that personal terms are all but agreed and it’s now up to the clubs to do a deal.

reported yesterday how Turner was now a surprise target for the Gunners. A new goalkeeper could be on the agenda for Arsenal, with Bernd Leno said to be seeking an exit from the club before the month ends.

Turner, 27, has enjoyed a stellar period with the New England Revolution over in the MLS. His form has caught the eye of Edu and Mikel Arteta, and a deal could now be pushed through. And according to Fabrizio Romano, the only thing standing in the way of Turner joining Arsenal is a deal between the two clubs.

Turner has just shy of 100 appearances to his name in the MLS. He played for the Richmond Kickers in the USL before earning his stripes with New England in the 2018 campaign. Since then, he has been the number one and has now made appearances for the US national team too.

Arsenal have Aaron Ramsdale cemented as their number one. But with Leno wanting out and just youngsters in reserve, the signing of Turner will bring much-needed experience to the goalkeeping ranks.

TBR’s View: Arsenal Playing It Safe With Turner Signing

Little is known about Matt Turner really for most Premier League fans. But the stats suggest he is a reliable hand and Arsenal will be getting someone who should be happy to play second fiddle to Ramsdale.

Leno, being a full German international, was never going to take to that role well at all. In Turner, the Gunners get some experience, as well as a player who’ll be determined to take his chance on the biggest stage.

This is a win-win for Arsenal.
