Arsenal adding Jerome Boateng would add yet more experience for young Gunners – TBR View

Arsenal are fresh off the back of winning their first trophy under Mikel Arteta and now a big summer awaits, with the Gunners boss eager to oversee something of an overhaul of his squad.

Despite their success, the Gunners boss wants new faces brought in. At the same time, he also wants to see some players move on, while those he values will need tying down to new deals, such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

How Arteta tackles the market remains to be seen but with the impending addition ( of Chelsea midfielder, Willian, there might be an indication that the Gunners chief is looking for experience and winners for his group.

In a squad full of young and exciting talent, it could be a smart move. The likes of Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Gabi Martinelli, and Joe Willock are all fabulous young players. But all teams need older heads for both on and off the pitch. Indeed, we’ve already seen the value in this at the club with Aubameyang and defender, David Luiz.

So, with that Bayern Munich want to offload Jerome Boateng this summer ahead of his deal expiring next summer, we think the German international could be ideal for Arteta’s charges.

Experience, winner, and still plenty in the tank, Boateng could be ideal

The Gunners were with a move for Boateng back in May. Therefore, it won’t be anything new for Gunners fans to recognise that this is a player who interests their club.

But as the last few weeks have shown, experience in big game situations is vital. Luiz was superb in both the semi-final and final of the FA Cup, proving that mentality can sometimes be crucial.

Boateng is of similar ilk. He is a born winner, the World Cup, Champions League, and a whopping eight Bundesliga titles, among other trophies. Not to mention also, he has experience in England from his time with Manchester City.

That sort of player is in short supply around the world. If Arsenal are serious about making it back into top four contention, then adding Boateng to the ranks to help nurture young talent like Saliba, could be a shrewd move by the Mikel Arteta.
