Arsenal accused of being ‘greedy’ with £30m player now ‘excited’ to leave the Emirates
Arsenal are in the process of fine-tuning their squad this summer as they aim to dethrone Manchester City at the summit after falling short in their last two Premier League campaigns.
The Gunners are aiming to go one step further after successive second-place finishes and have bolstered their squad with the addition of Riccardo Calafiori, who joined the club from Serie A side Bologna for a fee believed to be in the region of £42m.
While Mikel Arteta and co work on further incomings, a handful of players have also been linked with exits. Emile Smith Rowe is close to joining Fulham for £34m with the deal expected to be officially announced in the coming days.
Another player who has been linked with a departure is Eddie Nketiah, who is wanted by Ligue 1 side Marseille. But if reports are to be believed, Arsenal are driving a hard bargain to part with the young striker.
Arsenal playing hardball with Nketiah asking price

Nketiah is wanted by Marseille to replace ex-Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who secured a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Quadsiah earlier this summer.
And while Nketiah is ‘excited’ by the prospect of the move – having already agreed personal terms with Marseille – the French giants are yet to convince Arsenal to part with him.
A report from French publication states that Arsenal have thus far been ‘greedy’ with their demands for a player who isn’t even a guaranteed starter at the club.
While the Gunners’ official asking price remains undisclosed, it is believed Nketiah is valued at £30m by Arsenal, a fee they seem unwilling to budge on at this point.
Nketiah has featured 168 times for Arsenal since making his debut in 2017 under Arsene Wenger and has notched up 38 goals in all competitions. The English striker has loads of experience for a 25-year-old, so it’s not hard to see why Arsenal are reportedly standing firm on their valuation.
Marseille have already bolstered their attack with the signing of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United and only time will tell if they manage to complete a deal for Nketiah.
