Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham: How Twitter reacted to the North London derby
The 179th meeting of the North London Derby took place at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. The home side went into this fixture on a red hot streak, whilst Spurs remained unbeaten in the Premier League. Harry Kane returned to Pochettino’s starting XI for the first time in seven weeks after injury.
After a well observed period of reflection (and with both sides donning Poppies), one of the fiercest rivalries in English football got underway, but not before some lighthearted ‘banter’ between the two sets of fans.

Tottenham started brightly in the first five minutes, with Son expertly turning Bellerin on the Arsenal right hand side/Spurs left hand side but his final ball evaded Kane in the Arsenal box.
Son what a chance wasted

Is the commentator having a fucking laugh? perfect ball by Son with Kane standing there like a lemon

After half an hour, Arsenal had their first real chance of the game, after a sustained period of possession, when Alex Iwobi fired straight at Lloris from inside the area.
And then, out of almost nothing Theo Walcott hit the bar from 20 yards, with Lloris well beaten.
CRACK … Walcott hits the wood….

On the replays it looked as if the goal should not have been given, with Sanchez and at least one other Arsenal player in an offside position. However, Howard Webb, in the BT Sport studio, deemed the decision to allow the goal a correct one – giving this spicy fixture a very controversial moment to debate in the pub after the final whistle.

Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham.
This sparked the game into life, with chances coming and going for Eriksen, Kane (after top defending from Monreal) and Xhaka.
Arsene Wenger made the decision to go for the three points, by bringing on Ramsey, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Giroud all before 70 minutes.
For the away side, Vincent Janssen replaced Harry Kane on 72 minutes, with the goalscorer unable to go distance on his return from injury.
The tension grew and grew…
I'm sat here with 2 Spurs fans and an Arsenal fan…can see the TV going out the window at one stage to be honest.

First North London derby since moving to Finsbury Park, atmosphere in this pub is mad

83 minutes POST! A Christian Eriksen free kick evades everyone in the box and hits the post. A touch of any kind from a Spurs shirt would likely have put that in.

Then, as Son chases down a back pass to Petr Cech, the ‘keeper slips over but Son fails to put a challenge in.
Son has to challenge for that.

Chances for Giroud and Janssen came and went before Mark Clattenburg blew the full time whistle.

1-1. Really good , breathless, end to end, helped by ultra-fit Clattenburg’s use of advantage. Spurs the happier.
