Arrival of Andrew Gutman could end Emilio Izaguirre’s Celtic career

After spending time on trial with Rangers, it looks like Andrew Gutman might instead join Glasgow rivals Celtic.

, Rangers had offered Gutman and Matt Polster contracts after the American duo impressed in training.

Celtic lead the charge for Gutman.

The defender is weighing up his options between the two Old Firm clubs and his decision could have major implications for one current Celtic player.

Gutman is a left-back so surely his arrival at Celtic Park would spell the end of Emilio Izaguirre’s time in Glasgow.

The 32-year-old is in his second spell with the Bhoys, having previously spent seven years at the club.

But after playing just nine matches this season, Izaguirre’s future beyond this season looks bleak.

Kieran Tierney is the undisputed first-choice left-back and the arrival of Gutman would be a blow for the Honduras international.

Gutman plays for Indiana Hoosiers – a university team – but is ready to make the switch across the Atlantic and move to Scotland.

The 22-year-old will be seen as the long-term replacement for Izaguirre, who is out of contract at the end of the year.

And Izaguirre might have to start thinking about a new club already as Celtic plan for life without him.
