What Liverpool boss Arne Slot really thinks about the prospect of Luis Diaz getting a new contract at Anfield

TBR Football can exclusively confirm what Liverpool sources are now saying about Luis Diaz’s contract situation.

As TBR Football has previously confirmed, Diaz wants a new deal from Liverpool, sooner rather than later. His contract runs until the summer 2027.

In recent weeks, there have also been links between Diaz and Barcelona, while the Saudi Pro League is keeping an eye on proceedings.

TBR Football can also confirm what Arne Slot thinks about the prospect of Diaz getting a new contract at Liverpool.

Liverpool and Arne Slot feel Luis Diaz is worthy of new contract

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has confirmed that Liverpool have planned talks with Luis Diaz and his camp over a new contract this summer.

The Reds were always going to hold discussions with Diaz and his representatives, though the contract talks with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah had delayed matters.

As we already know, Diaz has been pushing for a new contract since last year, and Arne Slot recognises that the Colombia international is worthy of one.

However, whether Diaz does get a new deal will obviously depend on his demands once talks are under way.

Contract talks with Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones and Conor Bradley are also in the works, while Ryan Gravenberch is also due.

Diaz’s goal and assist tally has improved under Slot this season compared to last season under Jurgen Klopp.

Last term, the £49million man registered 18 goal contributions (13 goals and five assists) from 51 outings in all competitions.

This season, Diaz is on 24 goal contributions (16 goals and eight assists), and Liverpool have three games left to play.

Diaz has certainly done enough to warrant a new contract at Liverpool, and with talks pencilled in, it’s very much a case of ‘watch this space’.
