Liverpool continued their incredible run in the Champions League with a 1-0 win over Girona.
The Reds have a 100 per cent record in the competition so far, and they are now almost guaranteed to qualify for the next stage of the competition – even if they lose their next two games.
Arne Slot deserves a lot of praise for the work he has done. Filling Jurgen Klopp’s shoes was a massive task, but he has made it look fairly easy over the last few months.
Against Girona, however, things weren’t as easy as Slot would’ve liked.
Arne Slot not happy with what Liverpool kept doing vs Girona
Liverpool were the favourites to beat Girona in the , and they did just that at the Estadi Montilivi on Tuesday night.
However, it wasn’t a straightforward game by any means.
The Reds started the game very well and could’ve scored a goal or two early on. However, they failed to convert their chances and allowed Girona to gain confidence.
The hosts could’ve scored a goal themselves. They got into a few dangerous positions at times and came close to hurting Liverpool.
Slot’s game is all about control, but it looked like his men were losing that against Girona, especially in the first half. The Dutchman was far from happy with that.
He claimed that Liverpool giving away chances to Girona was ‘not normal’,
Slot said, as per : “Alisson made a lot of saves, but I think if you make highlights of this game we will all see a few chances that we had as well, which is normal.
“What is not normal is that we concede so many chances.”
Speaking about his side’s performance in general, he said: “If you ask me about all the six games, I’m really pleased with all the results, I am really pleased with the five [other] games with the way we played. I’m far from pleased about the performance tonight.”

Liverpool had one big problem vs Girona
Girona aren’t the biggest club in the world, but they are a good side with an excellent manager.
Michel made the Spanish outfit one of the most exciting teams in Europe last season, and although things haven’t been the same this time around, Girona are a difficult side to face.
Liverpool found that out on Tuesday night, but their big problem wasn’t the hosts’ quality, it was their own lack of efficiency in attack.
The Reds had four big chances to score, but their only goal of the game came from the penalty spot ().
If Liverpool were more clinical in front of goal, they would’ve won the game a lot more comfortably, despite the chances they conceded.
