Arne Slot could sign midfielder who dreams of Liverpool move for just £12.4m after financial issues strike

Liverpool could be active in the January transfer window – after failing to secure every target in the summer.

The Reds added only Federico Chiesa to the squad last summer – as well as Giorgi Mamardashvili for the future – but clearly, not a lot was needed in the way of reinforcements as Liverpool sit top of both the Premier League and the Champions League under Arne Slot.

However, there was a highly publicised pursuit of a central midfielder when Liverpool bid for Martin Zubimendi – although the Spaniard wanted to remain with boyhood𒊎 side Real Sociedad – suggesting the Reds are not entirely happy with the🦩ir midfield department.

Now, a midfielder Liverpool also considered during the summer in Morten Frendrup could be available for a bargain fee in January.

Liverpool could sign Morten Frendrup for just £12.4m

A story from in Italy now states that Genoa could sell the Denmark international in January due t𓄧o financial issues.

The Italian news outlet claim that Genoa wanted around €20m (£16.5m) for Frendrup during the summer transfer window, but problems have since hit those in the boardroom, meaning a €15mไ (£12.4m) bid could even be seriously considered.

Tutto Mercato Web pay ref💯erence to the fact Liverpool were monitoring the Dane last summer, but 𝓡do not state whether the Reds remain interested.

However, news of Manchester City wanting Zubimendi after losing Rodri to injury, and the fact Liverpool nev🐓er actually signed a central midfielder last summer, suggests Frendrup could still be on the radar of Richard Hughes, Director of Football at Anfield.

Arne Slot presumably won’t have to convince Morten Frendrup

If Liverpool do make an offer for the Genoa No.32 this winter, we doubt p𒆙ersonal terms will be a struggle to agree based on comments the 23-year-old has made before.

Frendrup ꧅has said he dreams of ꧃playing for Liverpool, telling back in 2018: “It is a dream I have always had, and I b💮elieve it will succeed. If I work hard, I﷽ believe in it.”

A bid for the man born in Tuse seems even more likely to happen, as Wataru Endo could leave Liverpool in 2025 after playing just 20 🌺minutes of Premier League football under Slot so far this season.
