Are Liverpool missing a trick not letting Gini Wijnaldum off the leash after Holland displays?
Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum continued his marvellous scoring run for Holland last night, netting twice in the opening 15 minutes to send the Dutch on their way.
The goals from Wijnaldum were 11th and 12th in just 19 international appearances over the last couple of seasons. It’s been a remarkable run from Wijnaldum, and a far cry from his goalscoring exploits for Liverpool.

Wijnaldum, 30, has yet to score this season for the Reds, while he netted just four Premier League goals last season. It goes without saying, then, that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may be able to get more from his man.
Of course, the Dutchman plays a vital role for the Reds anyway and Klopp cannot really be questioned given the success he’s had.

But it does beg the question of if there is more that Klopp can get from Wijnaldum. Especially so, given he has recently changed to a front four with the opportunity for a number ten.
Advanced role
Wijnaldum often plays in a midfield three for the Reds, usually to the side of Fabinho or Jordan Henderson. And while he can get forward at times from here, his main role is to win the midfield battle and free up the likes of Mane and Salah to cause havoc.
But with the recent change from Klopp and Wijnaldum operating more advanced for the Dutch, is there a chance we can see the former Newcastle man getting more goals for the Reds?

It’s certainly something Klopp could consider. Especially given that Roberto Firmino is hardly firing in the goals.
Wijnaldum has always had it in him to find the back of the net. 12 in 19 is a great effort at international level and if Liverpool can find a way to get that sort of return, they might yet just retain their Premier League title.
