‘Appalling’… Micah Richards not happy after what happened in West Ham vs Sheffield United game yesterday

Pundit Micah Richards has now been having his say on the shenanigans that unfolded in Sheffield United versus West Ham United yesterday.

The 2-2 draw was embroiled with controversial refereeing decisions, with two penalties awarded in the game and penchant for more.

Perhaps the most controversial incident involved Anel Ahmedhodzic who appeared to foul Jarrod Bowen in the Sheffield United box.

Instead, the decision went the other way, much to the anger of David Moyes and his West Ham staff.

Perhaps all in all a 2-2 draw was fair, with both sides feeling wronged on different occasions.

Micah Richards was discussing the game on ‘’ podcast and thought West Ham did deserve a penalty for a clumsy challenge by Sheffield United’s captain.

Richards reviewed three different incidents in the game, but only thought the referee and VAR got one of those wrong.

However, the pundit was pretty shocked that the incident wasn’t reviewed.

Micah Richards thought West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen deserved a late penalty at Sheffield United

Speaking on the podcast, Richards said: “There were some appalling decisions in this game. There was the Hamer foul on Ings for the penalty. That was a penalty. Do we all agree on that?

“And then there was Ahmedhodzic on Bowen, he had two arms around him for a penalty which was never given. VAR are supposed to look at everything but it wasn’t given. What is going on?”

Of course, many Sheffield United fans will disagree with Richards on this occasion.

Ahmedhodzic has actually on X today saying that the referee was right to give the decision his way.

Either way, Richards will probably understand that both Sheffield United and West Ham fans will feel aggrieved in different ways.

That being said, there could be no debate over a horrific challenge by Rhian Brewster, one that has no place in the modern game.

Perhaps West Ham’s biggest frustrations are born from their frustration at not winning the game, especially after some excellent late chances.

And on the back of Danny Ings’ misses, West Ham are now favourites to sign a striker considered one of the fastest in the world.
