Antonio Rudiger says player Arsenal released in 2021 had a better left foot than Roberto Carlos
Antonio Rudiger has been full of praise for Mesut Ozil.
The German was asked to build his ultimate Real Madrid player from a number of attributes, and when it came to picking who had the best left-foot in Los Blancos history, he actually picked Ozil.
Real Madrid have had some incredible left-footers over the years, from Raul and Roberto Carlos to Arjen Robben and Angel Di Maria, but according to Rudiger, speaking on , Ozil is the best of the bunch on that front.
Ozil was, of course, an incredible player to watch during his prime, and while Arsenal decided to release him back in 2021, he had a wand of a left foot, and Rudiger reckons he actually had the best left-foot in Real Madrid history.

Antonio Rudiger praises Mesut Ozil
The defender spoke highly about the former Arsenal man.
“Left foot?” Rudiger was asked
“Mesut Ozil,” Rudiger said
“Right foot?”
“Cristiano Ronaldo,” Rudiger said.
“Speed?”
“Vinicius Jr,” Rudiger replied
“Strength?
“Strength? Honestly, Ferland Mendy,” Rudiger concluded
What a player
Things ended on a sour note in Ozil’s career as he was ostracized at Arsenal before moving to Turkey and eventually retuiring, but we mustn’t forget just how incredible a player the German was in his prime.
The World Cup winner was one of the best playmakers in the world during his pomp, and while Arsenal fans didn’t always get to see him at his best, on his day he was absolutely unplayable.
Ozil’s star shined brightly for a little while, and while he did fade away before he probably should have, he was one of the best midfielders of his generation for a short time, and as Rudiger says, he may have had the best left foot in Real Madrid history.
The German goes down as a modern day great, that’s for sure.
