Antonio Conte shocked by something at Spurs that he’s never experienced before in his career

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has revealed that doesn’t know when Oliver Skipp will be back for Spurs.

Speaking ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League meeting with Brighton, Conte admitted he had never experienced anything like this in his career.

Skipp last played for Spurs in the 2-0 defeat against Chelsea back in January. He has been out with a groin injury since then.

Conte says nobody from the medical department has told him Skipp is ready to return and “they are really frustrated” with the situation.

When asked the Tottenham boss for an update on the 21-year-old, he said: “Also this question I can’t answer!

“Sorry but it’s not because I’m not polite. Skipp’s situation is the first time this situation with a player happened in my management.

“I don’t know, I don’t know. For sure we need him but at the moment no-one has tried to tell me the moment when he’s ready.

“Also for the player because at the moment he’s really frustrated. He’s really young, he’s a really good guy.

“To be injured, I’m especially disappointed and frustrated for him for this situation.”

“You should have a conference with the medical department”

As reported last week by , Conte said on 8 February that the medical department ought to have him back in two weeks.

However, he was putting pressure on them to make it seven to 10 days at most.

And last week, Conte appeared to have a dig at Tottenham’s medical department over the Skipp situation

“I think that sometimes you should have a [press] conference with the medical department,” he said.

“It is too easy for the doctors to work here because they don’t speak, they don’t explain what happens, you understand?”

However, The Guardian also reported that, while Skipp shares his manager’s frustration, he does not blame the Spurs medical team.

Skipp’s absence has left conte with just Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, Harry Winks and Harvey White as his midfield options.
