Antonio Conte says Tottenham have player who’s shown he can be counted on
Antonio Conte has suggested that he feels that Harry Winks has proved that he can be counted on, confirming that the midfielder will be staying at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the January transfer window – .
Winks has been through a turbulent spell in the last few months. In fact, it appeared inevitable that he would be leaving after an abject performance and result against Vitesse in the Europa Conference League in October.

However, the departure of Nuno Espírito Santo and the arrival of Conte has sparked a turnaround for the 25-year-old.
He has now completed 90 minutes in three of the last six Premier League games for Spurs. And against both Liverpool and Southampton, he has stood out with a strong display.
Winks has gone some way to silencing his doubters with his recent form for Tottenham. And of course, with Conte’s track record for getting incredible performances out of previously-written-off players, there is a hope that the England international may finally be back on track.

So it should come as no surprise that Conte has now confirmed that he will not be going anywhere when the window opens.
“Winksy is playing well and Winks has showed to be a reliable player,” he said, . “And for this reason, Winksy will stay here. I find players that are reliable, and then I can count on them and Winksy showed me that I can count on him.”
Harry Winks could be exactly what Tottenham need should Conte continue to get most out of him
There was a feeling that Tottenham may need more quality in the middle of the park. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp both have key roles. But creativity is not what they are in the side to provide.
Tanguy Ndombele meanwhile, continues to struggle to force his way into the fold. And there remains – from the outside, at least – a question mark over the future of Dele Alli.
Winks is a player who can break the lines with his passing. . And yet, only three players out of the 24 who have featured for Tottenham in the top-flight this term have made fewer appearances.
With players such as Lucas Moura, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min making an impact further forward, Winks could prove to be exactly what Tottenham need in the middle of the park.
