Antonio Conte reacts to Ben Davies display in Tottenham win

Antonio Conte has claimed Ben Davies is playing very well after the defender produced another superb performance as Tottenham Hotspur beat Norwich City in the Premier League on Sunday – .

Goals from Lucas Moura, Davinson Sánchez and Son Heung-min gave Spurs the three points. The result has moved Conte’s men up to fifth in the table.

A hallmark of Conte’s managerial career is that there are always players who take fans by surprise with the improvement that they seem to make.

And Davies is one of those who has made a brilliant start to life under the Italian. He provided an assist, setting up Son for the third. And he has looked absolutely outstanding since being deployed on the left of the back three.

Conte insisted that he is extremely optimistic about what he is going to be able to get out of Davies in the months to come.

“Ben is playing very well and I think that role specifically I can get out the best of him. It happens the same with Azpilicueta. On the three central defenders it’s important to be good defensively but it’s important to play with the football. When you find a team that is defending low and also to play, it’s very important in this system. I need a player who has that personality and ability,” he said, .

“We are talking a really good person, a really good guy. He’s really focused and he’s playing very well.”

Ben Davies could only be approaching his peak with Conte now in place at Tottenham

It feels as though Davies has already been around for some time. And yet, the Welshman is still only 28 years of age.

He could potentially only just be hitting the peak years of his career. And that has come at a time when he is only just starting to work with Conte.

He is threatening to turn himself into one of the first names on the Tottenham team sheet. And the supporters would be forgiven for feeling incredibly excited about what Conte is going to get out of some of his teammates in the weeks ahead.
